Back from the PUMA archives is the classic Puma Cabana Trainer, but in its lighter format - the Puma Cabana Racer shoe. 

In 1981, when style meant sweatbands and velour v-necks, PUMA cut through with a lightweight runner made to race. Christened the Cabana Racer and aimed at the most serious runners, this shoe was built close to the ground to strengthen every muscle, yet with breathable cushioning for miles.

Bearing certain similarities to the Puma RS 100 shoe but with cleaner panelling and more of an old school feel. This Puma Cabana Racer trainer successfully mixes a classic combination of suede and nylon, finished with a sturdy racing shoe sole.

Decades after its introduction, PUMA have authentically re-issued this the classic Puma Cabana Racer to cover new ground. The earliest version of the adidas Stan Smith was produced in 1964 with the cooperation of French tennis player Robert Haillet. This original version had had some obvious differences to the later models. It had a thick outsole, no adidas trefoil on the heel and Haillets name applied to the side of the shoe. Three rows of perforated stripes on the side panel also featured rather than the normal external stripes. 

The adidas Stan Smith officially became the Stan Smith when the American tennis pro came to the attention of adidas in 1965. Haillets name was replaced with Smiths and from this year on, subsequent models had his face and signature on the tongue.
